Is this course right for you?

This course is for people charged with a drink driving or drug driving offence in Victoria who accept the police facts and intend to plead guilty in the Magistrates’ Court. It is designed mainly for first-time offenders, or people with a lower-range reading, where there was no collision or injury. It explains the process in plain English so you can prepare your plea, your documents and your references, and know what to expect on the day.

This course is general information only and is not legal advice. It is not suitable, and you should speak to a lawyer, if you had a high reading; you have a previous drink or drug driving offence; you are charged with refusing a breath, blood or drug test, or with driving while impaired by a drug; there was a collision or anyone was injured; you drive for a living (for example truck, bus, taxi or rideshare); you hold a visa; you were already suspended or disqualified; or you do not agree with the police version of events. In those situations the consequences can be more serious, including a risk of imprisonment, and you need advice about your own case.
